چکیده
Questions What is the influence of time and environmental factors such as climate topography on soil chemical properties composition vascular plants during primary succession lava flows an oceanic island? How compositional change characterized which successional stages can be distinguished? Location La Palma, Canary Islands. Methods We sampled in 72 plots a long-term chronosequence 10 ranging age between 40 over 20,000 years semi-arid lowlands Palma Island. Soil were analyzed by general least-squares models (GLS), while canonical correspondence analysis (CCA), cluster multiresponse permutation procedures (MRPP) applied to investigate change. Results characteristics plant species strongly affected substrate but also climatic topographic factors. Values most increased with flow age, pH decreased. organic matter, phosphorus, exchangeable calcium ammonium revealed positive correlation mean annual precipitation. Lava was always important independent factor determining assembly followed Four their indicator species, life strategies status could defined. Alien did not alter trajectories. Conclusion Time, simultaneously affect flows. The windward–leeward gradient Island influences colonization development coastal areas. Favorable conditions (moisture) speed up succession. Compositional changes suggest convergence During entire process, dominant shrubs are endemics, highlighting importance evolutionary adaptation volcanic disturbances.

Evaluation plant properties and chemical composition of Lathyrus rotundifolius
Background and objectives: Plant properties and forage value of lathyrus rotundifolius, was assessed in Namin rangeland. Persian everlasting pea is belonged to legume family and it is a wild plant that grow at Heyran and Fandoghlo region in Ardebile province of Iran. Based on local residents experience, they consider the forage of this plant as one of the best forage and collect it for livestoc...
متن کاملSoil microbial communities are shaped by plant-driven changes in resource availability during secondary succession.
Although we understand the ecological processes eliciting changes in plant community composition during secondary succession, we do not understand whether co-occurring changes in plant detritus shape saprotrophic microbial communities in soil. In this study, we investigated soil microbial composition and function across an old-field chronosequence ranging from 16 to 86 years following agricultu...
متن کاملSoil Properties and Microbial Activity Changes along Spruce Forest Succession in an Abandoned Grassland
The effects of the colonization of an abandoned grassland by forest trees and the associated microenvironmental changes on soil properties and the microbial activity of soil were studied along a 170 m transect established on a former pasture colonized by Norway spruce (Picea abies Karst.) in Central Slovakia. The transect with a 5×5 m grid of sampling points crosses all successional stages from...

Seaweeds have been introduced as an important sources of food and pharmaceutical active agents since last century. In this study, the chemical composition and functional characteristics of (common names) Nizamuddinia zanardinii and Iyengaria stellata, were investigated. The total carbohydrate and ash contents were the two most abundant components in these seaweeds but their crude lipid and fibe...
متن کاملPlant Communities Rather than Soil Properties Structure Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungal Communities along Primary Succession on a Mine Spoil
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) community assembly during primary succession has so far received little attention. It remains therefore unclear, which of the factors, driving AMF community composition, are important during ecosystem development. We addressed this question on a large spoil heap, which provides a mosaic of sites in different successional stages under different managements. We...
